The regulations for all outdoor public lighting installations aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The extreme energy consumption as well as light pollution lead to negative effects on the planet and the ecosystem. It is therefore necessary to avoid and reduce this as much as possible with the means or resources available. And this also helps reduce the cost of electricity bills. Energy Regulation for Public Outdoor Lighting Systems

The main objective is to improve energy efficiency and energy savings by reducing harmful emissions, limiting light pollution, especially night pollution, and reducing the light that causes any kind of damage to the ecosystem.

They aim to achieve optimum energy efficiency for every type of public lighting. The following requirements of the current regulations must be met:

1. Illuminance levels specified in the relevant technical guide must not be exceeded. Exceptions are cases that require approval from the responsible administration.

2. In the case of street lighting, the minimum requirements specified in the supplementary technical instructions are met. For other types of lighting, the requirements for use, loss of equipment, maintenance and other requirements specified in the relevant technical guide are met.

3. If necessary, an autonomous effect and control system for the amount of light is to be set up.
