Street lights originated in the 15th century, and their purpose was to brighten the dark nights of London in winter. The London government ordered lamps to be hung outside to provide road lighting for citizens. This was the original form of street lights. At first, the street lighting was relatively weak, using candles and oil. After using kerosene, the brightness has improved a lot, but the effect is still not ideal. In order to save energy, more and more types of light sources have been developed. The commonly used light sources for street lamps on the market now include energy-saving lamps, induction lamps, sodium lamps, and so on. LED is the latest generation of light source, using low-voltage DC power supply, with the advantages of high efficiency, safety and energy saving. Cost-effective outdoor solar street lights all use this new type light source-LED. Unlike conventional street lights, the outdoor solar street light gained much popularity due to that they can reduce 45% carbon emissions. What's the differences between the outdoor solar street light and conventional street light?

1. Different energy resource

The energy that outdoor solar street lights used comes from the sun, while the conventional street light is connected to the electricity grid. By absorbing the sunlight with solar panel, the absorbed solar energy will be transfered and storaged in the battery. As long as there is sunlight, the solar street light can illuminate the streets, roads, highways, squares. The energy of conventional street light comes from the non-renewable resources such as coal, oil.

2. Different cost

Public lighting accounts for 70% of electricity bills. Conventional street lights will generate a lot of electricity bills each year. In some villages, it's difficult for the villagers to bear such expensive electricity bills. Installing traditional street lights in rural areas is a very laborious task. The roads in remote rural areas are often rugged and require a lot of manpower and material resources to transport street lights. And it needs a professional maintenance master to come and install it. Before installation, digging holes and burying wires are required. This cost a lot, too. But the initial investment of the outdoor solar street light will be a little higher,  and the solar street lamp price also depends on the configuration. In the later use of the solar light, there will be nearly no extra cost.

3. Difference impact on the environment

Solar energy is an inexhaustible renewable clean energy. Solar street lights with motion sensors are energy-saving and environmentally friendly lighting products, which can not only beautify the rural environment and form a beautiful landscape, but also respond to the country's call for "green lighting". Most of the electricity for traditional street lights comes from thermal power, that is, coal combustion, which brings a certain degree of pollution to the environment.

4. Maintenance difference

The traditional street lamp circuit is complicated, and the circuit needs to be checked and repaired frequently. With the extension of the years, the aging of the line is also inevitable. The resulting maintenance costs are also increasing. The outdoor solar street light has no such concerns, which greatly reduces the labor cost in the later period.
